The twins came to visit! - Columbia SC Newborn Photographer

The twins are here!! We rang in the new year with a full house! Mom, Dad, Mister C and the twins came up for a visit. Of course none of us were up at midnight, but I think mom and the babies were up shortly after :)

Of course I had to play - They are 2 weeks old today, but being premies, they are still small and sleepy, so they were perfect for posing. We had a good hour to play before the big kids woke from their minimal naps and the babies were ready to eat again. I'm hoping we can play a little more tomorrow (and get one with big brother!) before they leave! They are moving up here soon, so hopefully it won't be too long before I get to see them again. I know they are going to grow so fast!!

It's funny trying to figure out who they look like - they look very little like each other!

I had the pleasure to meet the J family this morning. They were such a wonderful family! Mom contacted me a few months ago to book the newborn session and they waited to find out the gender, so I was very excited to find out as the baby arrived! Pink or blue hats?

Baby C was born on Dec. 19th and joined a now trio of brothers. They are so sweet and courteous little men! I hope my two guys grow up to be as sweet and kind. It gives me hope that the craziness that I hear down the hall right now will calm a bit in the coming years ;)

Anyone that knows me well, knows that this day has been anxiously awaited for a while now...

The twins are here!

My bestfriend in Charleston and her husband were blessed with the arrival of their new baby girl and boy on Thursday. Dad was working in Columbia and of course I live here as well, so once we got the word we hopped out of town as fast as we could... of course dropping 2 kids in the lap of the best neighbor in the world took a little bit of extra time, so I was about 30min behind Dad.... In typical me style, I was running in at the buzzer. Literally - RUNNING - an out of shape preggo lady... I just about hyperventilated... good thing we were in a hospital just in case! :) I'm really glad the highway patrol on I-26 were not out in force!

They waited for the first cut for me to get there, thankfully. My friend blessed me with the chance to be in the OR for the delivery (with the camera of course!). The doctors were so great and put up with me bobbing and weaving around the action. The two doctors in the room delivered each of my boys, so they know me well!

The delivery went wonderfully and the babies are beautiful. Mom & Dad are doing great and trying to enjoy time in the hospital before they go home to Big Brother!

Baby A - girl - weighed in at 5lbs 9oz and 17 1/2 inches. She is doing amazing and mom is enjoying holding her newest baby girl.

Baby B - boy - weighed in at 6lbs 8oz and 18 3/4 inches. He is doing well, but is on a little oxygen and an IV for fluids. They are keeping him stable and hopefully tomorrow will try to bottle feed. Please say some prayers for him and for Mom & Dad. After all that they have been through I pray that they will not be home too long without him!

These aren't ALL of the pictures I took of course, but I tried to eliminate the ones with the most blood. ;) Most of these after the delivery are baby girl since baby boy is still in the nursery being taken care of... just to help you figure it out. It's harder with TWO!

.... that's what I want for Christmas. Patience and understanding over the next two-three weeks. I will be out of my first trimester and hopefully this exhaustion and sickness will lessen.... and we will be out of the holiday season. I'm hoping to finally get my head above water with email responses and orders. I am very grateful for my wonderful clients!!!

To thank all of you for a wonderful 2008, I will have another photo contest! Keep an eye out here on the blog!

Well, I think I've waited long enough to spread the word....

In about 7 months we will have more kids than I have arms! ;) Yes, we are expecting baby Hobbs #3 in July!! So this may tie together all of the recent comments about being tired and hopefully grant me some forgiveness in slow response to emails. Tired doesn't even begin to describe this go round!! The morning sickness has being coming and going all day, but lately hits me the most in the evening (when I typically work!).

Thank you everyone for your patience! I'll be out of the first trimester by Christmas and hopefully get that burst of energy back - I need it!

So - What this means for you is that next summer, things will slow down a bit around here. I'll still blog of course, but if you want a summer session, please contact me now and book your dates before June or after August. I have opened my calendar and I'm already accepting sessions into the fall.

We survived!

I'm sorry I have been MIA and haven't posted in over a week. We took a much needed family vacation! It's been a long time since we went somewhere to just have a vacation and not for an event or to specifically visit someone at their home. We met up with my husband's brother and his family at DISNEY WORLD!! We all had a great time! We spent 3 days at the parks and I think it was a perfect starter trip. We still have plenty to do the next time we go back, too. The kids were great and despite missing almost all of the naps, they were pleasant and made it a nice trip.

There will be more pictures to come, but I'm slowly getting back to normal life and client orders that came in while I was gone. I hope you all are enjoying this last month of the year - Can you believe it will be 2009 before we know it?! I haven't even attempted Christmas card pics for my own kids yet - New Year's cards are acceptable, right? ;)

The third baby in my whirlwind baby weekend was a boy - Baby B - again a close # 3 in this family of (now) 5. Big sis is in love with her newest brother. Big brother doesn't seem to mind the new addition, but in brother fashion, is already trying to play wrestle! ;)

We had a busy weekend and I'm still trying to recover! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We are traveling to my parent's to be with my side of the family this holiday. It will be nice to be "home" for a few days. I hope you all get to see the ones you love this season!

Always be thankful for the little surprises in your life :)

There is something in the water... so watch out ladies!!

This weekend I had THREE newborns. Saturday I drove to Charleston to photograph two beautiful new baby girls... a one week old and a 6 week old. The third was today - a boy in Columbia (his blog will come tomorrow).

This will be a double blog post so bear with me!!

Baby Izzy is just a day over one week old and she was in no mood to sleep! We were still able to get some beautiful pictures and she did doze off on her new pretty pink blanket for a bit. Mom's maternity session was last month. Iz is quite the little miracle baby and it was such a joy to meet her. I hope my next baby comes out with hair like this!! I have blonde baldies!

Baby OG was a sweet surprise and almost an Irish twin with big sis who was not quite 13 months old when she arrived! She had a bit of a rough entry into the world with a broken collar bone and jaundice, but she is doing great now and was nice and sleepy even at 6 weeks old! We also ran out to their dock and got a few family pictures. What a beautiful family!

I can't believe it's been 9 months already! Baby M was one of my first local newborns after we moved to Columbia. You may remember her as the "bookshelf baby". Mom still gets funny inquiries about how that set up happened :) Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking her pictures again and she is such a cute little butter ball! It was a COLD day so we took a few inside and then went out to play in the grass. If you can't tell - I love sunset flare!

We made it home from our trip yesterday! It was a great week but I ate WAY too much - so now I will fast until Thanksgiving... (right!?) HA! I didn't have time to take pictures of my own kids between the cold, rainy weather and runny noses! - I'm sure the boys aren't too torn up about it ;)

I did get to take pictures today - of a willing kiddo! Miss A's mom hired me a while back, and we became friends through playgroups in the neighborhood. Miss A is always so smiley and such a happy baby! I can't believe she is closing in on ONE!

Last weekend we hosted a baby shower in Charleston. My friend's sister in law has started baking these cookies - if you remember she did them for C's pirate birthday party as well. They are SOO yummy and delicious. I highly recommend checking out her blog and contacting her if you have a party or event coming up. They are perfect for party favors, holiday gifts or just to EAT! :)

I love one year olds... not only because I have one, but because they are so fun and full of their new found personality!! R is definitely starting to show is opinions and personality. Miss SP was no exception! She was recovering from a double ear infection and cutting about 4 teeth at once - so she wasn't so sure about letting go of Mom and Dad at first. As the weather warmed up, she also warmed up to me and we were able to get a few of her playing with a few toys. Grandma sent a Little Mermaid birthday card that played music and it quickly became a favorite! She had a ball dancing to "Under the Sea" :)

I have to thank "Aunt" B for hiring me for the session. What a great birthday gift for Miss SP and her parents!

A&B are married!!!

My second photographer, Kim, and I drove down to Charleston on Saturday morning. Rain threatened to make it a soggy weekend, but lucky the rain had stopped by the time the sun came up on Saturday. It did leave behind plenty of water in the streets of downtown Charleston and traffic managed to delay the wedding a bit, but it was a beautiful ceremony and reception. Everything went as planned and many tears of joy were shed! The wedding was at First Baptist Church where the bride went all the way up through school and reception was held at SC Society Hall. It was a beautiful event!! A planned out everything to the 'T'. There was a candy bar with all fall colored and themed candies, a beautiful spread of food, a great band, and a beautiful and delicious cake!

I'm home now (after a session with a 1yr old this morning) and couldn't wait to blog about the big day... the slideshow will come soon and will be posted here, but for now, here is a sneak peek! - I know - lots of details... but I love details - especially at weddings!! That's what you plan for so long - all those details! :)

Little Miss A drove all night long to get here for her big session today! Her cousins are the 4 girls from the previous post and they were here for just the weekend to visit baby W.

(Please pray for baby W. They had a scare in the middle of the night when she stopped breathing after spitting up and she is in the ICU)

I have been dying to use this hat and I'm so glad we got to use it today! We may create a special birth announcement Christmas card!

I love catching the interaction with mom and dad and seeing the emotion for their new little ones...

... and just because baby tooshies are way too cute to resist.. I love "Baby Legs". I was always confused what they were for, but they are super cute for pictures!! (btw - they are leg warmers for crawlers in dresses or to cover boy knees while crawling in short outfits.

Four GIRLS!! Daddy sure is outnumbered in this household! Baby W arrived 4 weeks before she was due, so today at just over 2 weeks, she was still good and sleepy! Mom and Dad were surprised by little girl #4, but she is so sweet and so loved already. All 3 big sisters are already in love!

You never know what life will throw at you...

Mom and I met just over 4 years ago when I first moved next door to them in Charleston. Miss E (as seen on the blog previously) was only 3 months old. While we were neighbors, Mom was diagnosed with and survived breast cancer. She was told that there would be no more babies... and I think they had made some peace with that fact. Well, here they are - due for baby girl #3 in just a few weeks! Both big sisters are very excited for baby Izzy - as we all are!! :)

October is breast cancer awareness month.... Please do self checks, get checked by your doctor and donate!!!

If you keep up with the blog, you may recognize little miss E... Her parents are good friends and repeat clients a few times over. Well, little miss is now a big sis!! Mr. B made his arrival a week ago today at a whopping 9lbs 8oz and I just couldn't wait to use some of my new props on this big guy. He wasn't that into sleep - even at just one week old... Momma was the focus of this guy's attention! We did get him to nod off for a little while and big sis did a wonderful job giving sweet and gentle kisses!! He was such a trooper and we got some great images.

**Reminder - I am booked for 2008 holiday sessions, but maternity and newborn sessions will still be worked in as they are time sensitive and cannot be pushed back :) **

"King of the fountain" - Lake Carolina - Columbia, SC

Tonight I had a session in my neighborhood. It was actually nice to have a 2 minute commute! T is 4 and he is so much fun. I'm looking forward to C being 4 now! At the end of the session, the light was really great around the fountain, so I assured him that I would not knock him into the water and stood him up on the edge.... He proclaimed "I'm king of the fountain!!" :) I love it when the kids warm up to me and I am able to really catch their personalities.

The session was mostly for T, but mom was smart and took the opportunity to get some family pictures and some of sis while T was already dressed and a willing participant. Both of the kids laughed at my lame knock knock joke... even when I repeated the same one over and over! Elementary school humor always brings out some chuckles!

I got a little tired of looking at my blog last night, so I changed it up a bit... Nothing major. Hopefully a new fancy blog will come soon, but for now, just changing the color and the header makes me happy. :)

I seriously cannot believe how fast a year can fly by. We always tend to pack a lot into our years, but it never fails that at the end of it I always think "How did that happen!?".

My baby turned one yesterday... So I guess that officially makes him a toddler? He's not walking yet, but I guess by the date, that makes it so. He's such a cuddle bug... I'm so glad that he hasn't given that up yet. His hugs are addicting! He's so serious some times - and so silly - I think he gets his moods from Daddy!

On Saturday we had a party at our house with a family and a few close friends. It was a nice evening and R had a good time being passed around and getting all the hugs he could! He wasn't too sure about his cake at first, which is really funny b/c he will get mad at you if you are eating something he can't have - especially cake!! We finally gave him a fork and he played around until he figured out it was cake and it was good! :)

Of course I had to snap a few pictures - I even got in one!!

(my mom says I used to put my foot on the table as well.... I have a picture of C doing the same thing - Guess it's an inherited trait?)

Whew - It has been a busy day!!! My baby turns one tomorrow, so today we had his birthday party. It was a small little affair at home with family and great friends. I will tell more tomorrow.... and add pics!!

BUT - The morning started with a newborn session! Little Miss O was born a day before her due date (nothing like making mom wait until the end!!) It was bitter sweet - holding such a sweet new baby as my own baby was about to move into toddler-hood and out of baby-land... *tear*.... anyway - She was so sweet and good! We got some great shots - I just couldn't wait to get them on the blog! Mom - I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy taking them!

I have been working on setting up these slideshows. I just love watching the images go by set to music. I know you all would like to see more of a session and not just the few I blog, so here you go!

My other session this past weekend in Charleston was with these cute girlies. They have just moved back to the states after living in England for a few years. It was so cute hearing the girls speak with their southern/british accents!

We almost had to reschedule due to a storm rolling in, but we got lucky and ended up with some great clouds and a beautiful sunset.

This weekend, I had two sessions in Charleston - both of which were threatened by storms rolling through! Luckily, both were safe and we ended up with some great weather and clouds/sunset because of it! The 30min wait in line for gas on I-26 almost made me late, but that's another story!!

A & B are getting married at the end of October. This was my first time meeting them together (due to the distance) and I am so excited about the wedding! They are so very cute together and could not stop laughing (not sure if it was me, or inside jokes, but either way - they were cracking up!). We had a lot of strolling around downtown - even with the heat. I love it when clients are willing to go with the flow. I miss Charleston so much. It was great to walk through the streets again and find new spots among the alleys and gateways.

Well, she's not MINE, but the closest I'll probably get. She's my honorary Goddaughter (I'm not catholic and apparently it's not allowed) and we have already arranged that she will marry C ;) Last weekend we went down to Savannah to enjoy her birthday party and I was able to snap a few pics at the party. We planned to have a session the next night, but someone brought a bug to the party and knocked out quite a few people the next day - K being one of those! She did pose on the porch for a few shots, but our full session was postponed.

Back to the beach - Savannah, GA

We spent our long Labor Day weekend down in Savannah, GA. My favorite girl turned 2 (pictures of her to come next!) and we spent some time with my parents out at the pool.

I also got to spend some time at the beach with the H family. We weren't the only ones with plans for pictures that night. I think we counted 7 professional photographers and a few other amateurs all taking turns on one spot of beach! Luckily the beach goers knew to clear out once the swarm of paparazzi came out of the dunes!

I had a fun session tonight with little miss C. Isn't she adorable? Mom and I met through a local playgroup. I think C wondered where my crazy kiddos were when I showed up alone. She has such great energy! We started at a beautiful park across the street from their house, had fun running around with the dogs and ended in the neighbors yard laughing at poot noises and tearing up flowers ;)

Birthday fun

Well, the party has come and gone and now I'm trying to get back to work before the craziness of preschool starts next week. When did my baby grow up and become a 3 year old preschooler?!?

Here are a few pics from the party. I played mom instead of photographer and it was nice to enjoy the day! C is recovering from his first ever ear infection and a case of pink eye that he was kind enough to share with his baby brother. Yes, this all started on the day of his party - fun stuff!

Aren't these cookies the cutest?! They were made by a friend from Charleston. I think she should go into business! My mom made the cake! She always made my cakes growing up (and should have started her own business as well). I'm so glad that we are able to carry on the tradition with my boys. This is up there with my fave of all time!

I cannot believe the day has come and gone..... My oldest is now THREE. Wow... How did that happen? Wasn't it just yesterday that I first found out we were pregnant?! I know you all can relate. It just goes by SO fast. R will be one soon and my head is spinning - I have no words for how fast this last year has gone, but the last three have certainly been faster than I could have imagined!

He is still my baby, but being on the tall side, he hasn't been "little" for... oh... 3 years ;) At least he still lets me cuddle and sing to him when he's in the mood.

If you ask, he will say he's "Thirteen". He did say 3 first thing this morning, but that didn't last long. I'm sure it will be here before I know it.... For now, I won't rush a single minute...

Summer fun with friends

After playing with the new baby boy, I went to the beach to play with some bigger kids and their families. They were friends in their pre-kid days and they are spending their summer vacation together on Sullivan's Island. I look forward to the day when we can do this with our friends. Life just seems to be really crazy right now. Is it just me?!

Anyway, We had a great time running around on the beach and playing in the dunes. With 4 kids under the age of 4, they have quite the full house of energy! They were all so much fun!

I'm always up for a newborn session! While packing for my Charleston beach session, I was called and asked about a newborn session for a baby born 2 weeks ago... Well, luckily, I was going to be there for two nights and had a block of time to fill! Typically I like to have the due date in mind so we can plan, but it's always fun to be surprised with a fresh new little one... Who can resist?!

This guy was SO good to me! He was so sleepy and perfect the whole time. He smiled more times than I could count.

I'm SO excited for all of the babies set to arrive in the next few months! The response to the Maternity/Newborn special has been great! *Only 4 days left!*

Look out for a lot new baby bumps and tiny newborns this fall!

We started it off right with "Bump O". I was looking forward to meeting A&F today. I love meeting first time parents and seeing the excitement and joy on their faces when they talk about their soon-to-arrive baby! :) Momma (and Daddy too) has such great style and again (as I seem to do when pink is involved) I gasped when I saw the nursery! Little Miss O is going to be so pretty in pink!

The morning following the beach session, I met with a friend from Charleston who is on my baby plan. Mom will have be having another girl in Sept/Oct, so we had to bump up Baby A's 1 year portraits for her birthday invitations. Big sis wasn't really thrilled with the idea of it at first, but she finally warmed up to me and even smiled for us... but just a little!

Each of the girls are 3 days older than my boys, so it's funny to see the new things they are doing and compare the differences between boys and girls!

We found a lovely spot in a local park and just let the kids play in the flowers. I'm sure the gardeners may not be happy with us, but we didn't cause too much harm - just a few picked blooms!

I can't wait to get the invitations proofed - I'll post again when they are finished!

I had a busy week, so get ready for the blog posts! I may hit a personal record for the most per week! This week I went to Charleston for 2 more sessions. Beach portraits are popular this time of year so I have had a few trips down this season. Of course I'm not complaining - I love the beach and any reason to visit is fine with me!!

The J Family actually lives in Columbia, but they were vacationing at the beach for the week. They are such a cute family and I had a great time meeting them and capturing all the little personalities. The kids were SO well behaved and cooperative! I was very impressed. I only have two and I'm not half as put together and calm as Mom was!

We were almost rained out, but thankfully the rain passed over with just a few drizzles and we were able to recharge with some juice, a little snack and get back to the session. I'm so glad we didn't pack up and call it a night, the pictures in the grass are some of my favorite!

M&M - Twins!

First I will say that all of the newborns I have photographed are beautiful... There is just nothing sweeter than a new life. I had the pleasure to meet K, her handsome 7 year old son and 5 week old twins while out shopping with my boys last week. I could not wait to get my camera in front of these two cuties! They are simply divine! This was only my second set of twins, but they were good to us with very little fussing (only to be fed) and just a few sprays along the way ;) 5 weeks is pushing it for sleepy newborn pictures, but as I said, they were good and relaxed and even slept a little to curl up together.

My friend Kim came up from Augusta to lend a hand and take some lovely photos herself. Check out her blog for a few more pictures!

Momma K should be congratulated - she made it to 39 weeks! They were 7+ and 8+ lbs each!! Whew! They are at least 10ish lbs now - can you imagine having two full sized babies at once?!

Well I mentioned in my last blog post that I had 20 people in front of my camera last week in Atlanta.... 17 of them were AT ONE TIME! Yes, 10 adults and 7 children. 2 months to 7 years! We had a great morning taking pictures at the grandparent's home - The house was beautifully decorated by Gina Wileman Interiors. I felt like I was at a catalog shoot for Pottery Barn Kids! The kids were wonderful and put up with me and my lame-o jokes to try to make them laugh. :) The parents were perfect as well. The W family is so full of fun and love for each other. I can just imagine the fun they have here at the holidays!!

This weekend I met the end of my self imposed session break and started back up with a bang - a trip out of town and 2 sessions! 20 people later - I'm home and getting down to work.

The first of the sessions was with the H kids. R and H were so sweet and a joy to capture. I love seeing the newborns that I photograph grow. I can't believe it's been 3 months already since his newborn session! It reminds me how quickly the time flies.

I love it when my clients get into the session and come up with their own ideas. Mom found an adorable outfit to match the yummy lollipop - R enjoyed it too!

Maternity & Newborn Special

My big boy will be 3 next month.... I can hardly believe it! Where did the time go?? We have packed a lot into the last three years. I was not taking pictures professionally when he was born, but I am lucky to have a great friend that is a photgrapher and she stopped by the hospital when C was only 3 days old to snap a few newborn pictures. They are so dear to me. They are only that little for a short time - C especially! He has always been off the chart, so I didn't have a little baby for long. It's amazing how fast they grown and change. I feel like he was just born yesterday and he is already a big brother and going on the potty! As he tells me - "I not a baby... I a kid!" (I'm sure proper english will come with age... right?!)

So in honor of his upcoming birthday - I'm posting a blog special!!

I hope everyone had a very Happy 4th of July yesterday! We spent a lovely day with my parents... just hanging out and visiting. The boys had a great time and enjoyed a bit of watermelon before dinner!

I should take my boys out for full sessions more often, but I generally just snap a few here and there. R was so cute in his little flag outfit that I had to have a mini session with him - and it helped that Meme was there to lend a hand!!

C actually wanted to take pictures too! He requested to sit in this chair and say "cheese". I think he's starting to get a little jealous that I take more pictures of R (he can't run from me and isn't tired of the camera in his face), so C is being a bit more cooperative lately.

And one last one of them together in the hammock. Breezy, warm summer days... I love it!

A visit with family

Yikes! Time has flown and here it has been over 2 weeks since my last post! I've been very busy finishing all of the sessions I had over the last few months. A huge batch of orders just went out today, so if you placed an order recently, you should get it before the holiday!

We are spending the week at home attempting potty training again. If anyone out there has tips, I'd love to hear them! Last time, C wasn't so responsive, but this time it's going better. We ventured out today (for the ups store) and it was probably a little too soon... 2 accidents later, I think we are staying home tomorrow! R is cutting his first tooth... so we are having fun with all that comes along with that (drool, fussiness, fever, chewing on everything in site, short naps, etc).

This past weekend we went down to Mobile, AL to visit with my husband's family and my SIL's family for our niece's baptism. It was a great weekend and it was so nice to see everyone again! I hate that we all live so far apart. C and his cousin J had a GREAT time playing pirates and wrestling. They were such a hoot!
We were only there for about 26hrs, but of course we had to fit in some portraits of baby C. The first girl for the Hobbs family in a LONG time... We are all tickled pink! ;)

It was so cute to see them driving J's toy Jeep... a sign of things to come!!

While I was in Charleston for the beach session, I got to visit with the newest member of the S family. She makes kiddo #4 and her big brothers and sister are in love... and how could they not be? She tempted us with her arrival for a while but finally made her way into the world last Thursday. At 5lbs, I think she is my smallest newborn yet (even smaller than each of the twins!). It took some patience and cuddling, but we finally got her to sleep and capture some wonderful images.

Folly Beach Fun with the C Family

Wow! I had SUCH a fun night with the C family! They live in Columbia, but stay at Folly Beach in Charleston, SC every summer for a week. This is the second year that I have taken their beach pictures and I just love this family. They are so fun and always have a blast together. I wish we had a yearly vacation set up with my own family!

I love this pier at Folly. It always adds so much to the beach setting. As you can see in my portfolio, I've used it a few times! The girls all went down to the water and once the little one accidentally stepped into the puddles around the poles, it was a jumping splashing good time! :)

The Gore Twins - J&C - Atlanta, GA

These two kiddos have been eagerly awaited for a LONG time - even before they started baking. The waiting paid off and Mom & Dad have been blessed... These are two of the sweetest new babies!! I wanted to put them in my bag and take them home! :) My friend and colleague Emily E joined me so we could double team the boys for posing/shooting. Lucky for us they were a photographers dream! Sullivans Island

The boys and I had spent Memorial Day week in Charleston and had a great time with some great friends. C's friend J turned 3 and they were there to spend the week with us. We took J and his sister to the beach for their portraits at the end of the week. I don't believe I've ever been at the beach with it SO windy! We were all covered in sand by the end of the night. It made it quite difficult for me to crawl around on the ground like I typically do!

Missy Moo is now 15 months old. I love photographing the same families and seeing them grow. Eventhough we live far apart now, it's nice to get together and catch up. The boys really had a great time - even if they are still learning to share. ;)

Prayers Needed

Little Miss B needs some prayers. Last week she was burnt from a cup of hot black beans while eating out with her family. She's currently in a leg cast from her toe to her waist covering one whole leg. She goes back in a few weeks to determine if the skin they currently have in place will be accepted or if they will need to do skin grafts.

She's such a sweet baby! I can't imagine this happening to my boys. Please send out prayers for her and her family to get through this time with minimal scarring - physically and emotionally!

I am an only child, so my immediate family is small, but my mom has 6 sisters (yes, all girls!), so I have a fairly large set of Aunts/Uncles/Cousins... and a few down the line. Momma H is my 2nd cousin, so these boys are my 3rd cousins and my boys' 4th cousins (right?!). We had a fun time at the park taking pictures. Of course C never wants to be in pictures until I'm taking them of someone else then he says "I take pix".

Tybee Beach

I guess the saying goes that you love what you know. I grew up in Savannah and while Tybee has it's naysayers - I still love it and it's one of my favorite beaches. It's nice and wide for frolicking in the sand, there are plenty of fun features for photographers (dune grass, drift wood, jetty rocks, etc) and it's close to home of course. :) I've been to Hawaii and stayed on Waikiki Beach and while the water was definitely the best I've seen, the sand and "beach" left some to be desired.

I had the pleasure of catching up with the G family on a recent trip home. Mom and I went to middle school together before she moved away, then met up again during sorority rush when we were pledging the same house at the same time! She's one of my dearest friends and it's so fun to have kiddos the same age. I only wish they could move back to Savannah so we could visit more!

When we were down in Savannah for Mother's Day, we went out to Wormsloe Historic Site for some pictures with the L family. Technical Difficulties

I'm having some technical difficulties, so I will be "out of pocket" for a few days until I can get things up and running again. I still have limited access to email, so let me know if you have any questions or need info.

SO, I think I'm going to take this opportunity to work on getting C potty trained... YIKES! He's *finally* showing interest today so we'll see how it goes... Wish me luck!! ;) If I can't work, I might as well do something else productive!!

Happy Mother's Day!

So the day is almost over, but I just had to say Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there! I had a very interesting day and realized that I am definitely a MOM!! It wasn't a day for me to be pampered, but I wouldn't change it. I did get flowers from my boys and dinner from my Father. After a trip to the doctor and a near emergency trip to the dentist yesterday, both boys have had me on my toes! But - that's what it's all about! :)

This makes my heart smile... He's such a 2 year old sometimes, but other times he is so fun and cute and my best buddy. I took these last week while he was in the mood for pictures (it's rare) and since I get in trouble for not posting enough new pictures of my own kids, I figured today was a great day to add this in...

I mean - HOW can I resist that boy?! Luckily, all those teeth are still in tact... for now!!

I'm no stylist by any means, but I LOVE it when clients do something different and fun with their wardrobe for a session. I am working on a "what to wear" guide to send to clients once they book a session so they can start thinking outside of the box for their session clothes...

I just love the footwear that Mom put together for her family!

And I have decided that taking a week+ long road trip and scheduling a session with 4 year old and 2 year old boys at the END of the trip may not be the best plan! ;) They were great but I was exhausted!!

I've been home for almost a week and I'm ALMOST recovered from our big road trip '08! Ha!

I started planning the trip around a planned meeting with other photographers. One was coming all the way from Canada, so I couldn't let the opportunity pass by! Andrea Hanki is a super talented photographer. She recently blogged a few of the pictures she took from our meeting and I was so tickled to see me and both the boys included! She's very talented and sweet too! Check her out!

Here are a few of my pictures from the meeting. There were about 15 photographers and at least 10 kiddos (my 2 included) acting as models. We had a great time and it was so nice to get to meet others with the same passion!

I'm busy playing catchup on all the sessions from that week and this past week as well! Anyone know how to add a few hours in the day? I could really use a few!

Wow... 3 W families in the last 3 weeks! I stopped by to hang out with this great family in Atlanta on my tour of the southeast. Baby W is 4 days older than my R.

Yes - They are siblings and look nothing alike!! I just love that they are two extremes with dark hair and brown eyes then blonde hair and blue eyes... They are both SO cute!!

Sweet sweet baby...

Baby A arrived two weeks ago today. I have been looking forward to meeting her since her Mommy's maternity session last month. I was lucky enough to go visit her when she was 4 days old!! She was my youngest and quickest newborn session to date! When I say they are best under 2 weeks old, they really are! The newer the better! She slept and let us move her all around without waking. Of course she slept the best in Daddy's arms....

I had the pleasure of meeting the W family last Sunday at "the horseshoe" on USC's campus in downtown Columbia. I'm a UGA girl and I've never had a fondness for anything gamecock related..... ;) BUT I have to say that the campus is beautiful this time of year and we found some great spots! The kids were so cute together and it was so fun to talk to little mister A... He's 4 and had such a fun personality! Little miss A was such a beauty!

The W Family at Irmo Park

The past few days have been rainy and gloomy around here. I'm ready for spring!! Of course... as the saying goes... April showers bring May flowers!

My first scheduled session with the W family was rescheduled due to the recent run of rain. Thursday ended up being a beautiful warm day and Irmo park was a perfect location. Lucky for us, most of the flowers are in full bloom and didn't get the memo about May! :)

Leslie and I met through a mutual friend when I moved to Columbia. We soon found out we have a lot in common and we have a hoot when we get together! Our boys are close in age (and size - big boys!) so playdates are fun when all FOUR of them get together!

Last week I drove to GA to visit with my friend E and her two sweet boys D&D... We had a great time hanging out and got to see what having 4 boys under 3 in one household would be like... insanity!! Baby D is exactly one month older than my baby R and big brother D is just about to turn 2. We do not get together often enough b/c of the distance and life with 2 kids - We definitely need to make a point to do it more often! E and I have been friends since college - sorority sisters at UGA. R & D had fun checking each other out - of course they probably thought they were looking at that baby in the mirror. E & I both have dark hair and either of us have yet to end up with a dark haired baby!

Little Missy Moo

I have been so lucky to have great friends support me as I have started this venture into my own business. Miss M's family lived across the street from us in Charleston and her older brother is close to C's age. We met when C was first born and the boys have been friends ever since. Mom has been so great and let me pratice on her kids all the time when I was first starting out trying to build my portfolio. You have probably seen them many times if you frequent the blog or check out my portfolio on my website. They make my job easy - I can't make these eyes up....

Isn't she BEAUTIFUL?! I can't believe she is ONE!!! She was my very first newborn. It feels like a million years ago as I've had a baby, moved and started a business since then, but at the same time I feel like she should still be a baby. She's so petite and precious!

We had a fun visit and photoshoot in my new neighborhood. I love spring flowers! I'm so glad it's warming up and the weather is being so cooperative for photos! It's going to be a great summer!

Happy Anniversary to ME!

Sorry it's been a week since my last post... I'm busy working on a wedding and some super cute kiddo sessions! It is turning out to be a very busy spring!

It has been so nice and warm around here lately! I'm SO excited for warm weather to come back! I am born and raised in the south, so cold weather and I don't get along! It also helps me to have green grass and beautiful flowers as a backdrop!!

I had the pleasure to have another session with little Miss P 2 weeks ago... She is growing up so fast! Miss P is ONE!! Here are some pics - I missed blogging these before the whole session went up!!

Yesterday was my 4th wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been ONLY 4 years! :) I feel like I've known my hubby my whole life. We certainly know how to pack a lot into that time... 3 homes, 2 moves and 2 kiddos! I'm excited to see what the next 4 (and 40+) years bring us! :)

My baby is not such a baby anymore.... *tear*

I look at him each day and wish I could make time stand still. He is in a fun stage right now (even in the midst of the TWO's!). He's such a great big brother and he is so smart and caring. Officially 2.5, I know that in the blink of an eye he'll be 25 and I'll wonder where all the time went!

I love that I am able to catch these sweet moments in time. There will never be another day like yesterday, today or tomorrow!

Baby Coco is due in about 4 more weeks. I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl.... I admire those that can wait all 40wks! I would have found out as soon as the stick said "pregnant" if I could... I have never been known for my patience! :)

Feeling old...

I never thought that at 29, I would feel old... I usually forget that I'm almost 30 and still feel like I'm 22 and JUST got out of college. I forget that life has moved on and people all grow up. Yes, I am married with two kids of my own and a lot has happened since college, but it constantly amazes me that time flies by as fast as it does.

B is my friend's little sister... and she's old enough to be out of college and getting married... When did that happen?!

I'm so excited for these two. They are so cute and just starting their lives together. The wedding is in August and it is going to be a blast! Here are a few from their engagement session in Savannah. I'm jealous of their wedding photographer - these two are going to be great to photograph on their big day!! I'm looking forward to the blue eyed babies in the future! ;)

As a Christmas gift to my boys, I commissioned paintings (one for each) from an artist I met through an online photography group. She is SO talented and sweet to work with.... as you can see - Her work is beautiful! I was late on the request, so she was booked up for Christmas delivery, but these were more than worth the wait! She went by their rooms (Carter's is airplanes and Reed's is fishies) and created these beautiful works of art! I can't wait to hang them in their rooms! (The walls have been bare since we moved b/c I was waiting to get these and work the rest of the room around them!!!)

First I have to say - Thank you all for making 2007 a great year. I've met such great people and that's part of the reason I love my job! It's so fun to be able to connect with your family and capture the precious moments in your lives. I am excited about 2008!

Merry Christmas!!!! We are really looking forward to Christmas in our house this year. C is 2.5 and really understands Santa and presents, so we are excited to see his reaction on Christmas morning! I hope you all have just as much fun this holiday season as we are having. Let us not forget the real reason for the season...

I just love newborns! Baby R was so sweet and photogenic. Probably my sleepiest newborn to date. She didn't want to get into any crazy positions, but she did keep her eyes closed while trying to doze off to sleep!

We made another trip to Charleston this weekend. I had to deliver some orders and we had a party to attend (gotta love baby free nights out!). C loves being there and playing with his friend 24-7! Had to post another of the dress. Kim took this one (she's has such a wonderful eye.. I love working with her!) I squealed with glee when I got the ok to hang her dress from the beautiful chandelier. I'm SO glad it worked and SO glad nothing came crashing down!!!

I'm done with families for now, so the wedding editing begins as I wait for the Christmas rush of orders to come in this next week. I have quite a few deliveries to make this weekend back in Charleston. The things I do for my clients! ;) (no need to twist my arm to make me come back!!)

I have so much to be thankful for this year... a new baby, a new home, my family is healthy and happy. Thanks to all of you that have made this year great.

This weekend my friend Kim (www.kimberlykylephotography.com) joined me for a wedding in Charleston. It was a long evening, but we got some wonderful shots and had a fun time working together again (she also assisted me at the wedding in July). It was nice to be a little quicker on my feet than last time... 7 months pregnant was tough!

We were a little worried when we drove by and saw large scaffolding covering the front of the church... but the inside of the church more than made up for the metal and tarps outside. The bride's getting ready room was amazing and we were so tickled to see chandeliers, tall drapes and antique mirrors... a photographer's dream!

More to come.... I'm pooped and need to sleep before the little one wakes up for his midnight snack!

I had the pleasure to photograph Miss E for the 2nd time tonight. What a difference a few months make! A toddler is always a challenge, but this time she was a more willing participant... Of course the fact that I'm not pregnant and can keep up better could have helped!

C has a little girlfriend that is 3 days older than him.... Her baby sister was born 3 days before R, so of course we joke that they may one day have a double wedding.

I had the pleasure of meeting baby A last week. She is perfect, tiny and beautiful just like her mommy and big sis! She's known to sleep through a party, but my little camera and I got wide eyes for 2 hours!

We hope everyone had a fun time trick or treating! C really "got it" this year and had a great time ringing everyone's doorbell. I know these are late but things have been busy here with the move and 2 kiddos... I'm finally starting to get my bearings!

I am really going to miss the beach when we move next week.... Luckily it will only be 2hrs away. I've never lived more than 30 minutes from the beach (other than those wonderful 4yrs at UGA). Of course we'll probably go to the beach more after we move than we have been all summer this year!

I had fun last night with this family... The little one was not in the mood for posing, but I think we did get at least one good group portrait. I'm glad mom likes more of the "fun" shots! :)

Yesterday I had my first client session since baby R arrived. It was nice to get back in the groove and have a child other than my own to photograph. It always seems easier to capture other kids...

Here are a few of Baby G. He was such a sweet little peanut... about 3lbs smaller than R and he's one week older! He refused to sleep... of course just as mom tells "He sleeps all day", he decides to change it up!

Friday, September 21st, we welcomed our new baby boy. He made a quick entry into the world and is beautiful and such a good boy. Big brother C loves him so much already. He loves to hug him and bring him toys.

We are so blessed to have two beautiful and healthy boys.
